KUJAWSKI (née Carnahan), Betty. March 26, 2024. Age 84. Beloved wife of the late Gerald ("Jerry"). Dearest father of Michael (deceased), Kevin (Michelle Brownstein), and Lisa. Loving grandmother of Liam, Grace, Connor, and Vienna. Cherished sister of the late William (Nan) Carnahan and the late Frank (Lucy) Carnahan. Dear aunt of Ginny, Liz, Marybeth, Colleen, David, Kelly, Frank, and Shannon (deceased).
Betty was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on March 4, 1940 to William and Mildred Carnahan. The family later moved to Detroit while Betty was still in grade school. After high school she attended Wayne State University studying business management. In 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Kujawski, whom she met while working together in an after-school job as a cashier at Wrigley's supermarket. Together they moved to Sterling Heights in 1966 where they built their life raising their three children.
Betty was an attentive and loving stay home mom, actively volunteering in school activities and teaching her children about the importance of hard work and getting an education to achieve your ultimate goals. She loved going with the family to their cottage up north on Gaylanta Lake (Lewiston) and spending evenings around the campfire. She also loved hosting gatherings with friends and family, especially during the holidays. The ongoing playful teasing between Betty and Jerry brought a smile to everyone who was lucky enough to spend time with these two very special people.
Later in life, after the children graduated high school, she started a long career as a court administrator in both Centerline and Warren. She loved her job and the people she worked with during this time. Even in retirement, she often referred to how fulfilled she was in her position and how much she missed working at the court. In retirement, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, doing crosswords, reading and watching her family grow. She will be missed by all who knew this sweet woman.
Visitation Friday, March 29, 4-8pm, at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons. 36900 Schoenherr Rd. at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Funeral services 11am on Saturday, March 30, also at Wujek Calcaterra.
