Betty (Harrison) Merce passed away Wednesday August 13, 2025 at Toledo Hospital after a brief illness. She was born May 28th, 1931, to Henry and Louise (Condra) Harrison in East Prairie, Missouri. She grew up in Harrisburg, Arkansas and received her bachelor's degree at Bowling Green State University. Betty met her husband Clarence Merce in Atlanta, Georgia in 1953 before moving to Toledo in 1955. Betty work as a second-grade teacher for TPS, at Walbridge Elementary until her retirement in 1995. When her children were younger, Betty always enjoyed having the neighborhood children over. Following her retirement, Betty spent time traveling and spending time with her family. She was a devout Christian of the Baptist faith and was a charter member of a Maumee Baptist Church as well as other Baptist congregations in the Toledo area. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, son Mike and daughter-in-law Cindy. She is survived by her brother Bob and wife Liz Harrison of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She also survived by daughters Vicki (Rusty) Janicki, Connie and Jim (Beallas). In addition, she is survived by Grandsons Michael (Jennifer) Merce, Spencer and Connor Beallas, as well as Great Grandson Aaryn Merce. The family would like to thank several of her neighbors in Perrysburg for their friendship and kindness. Coyle Funereal Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Services will be private.
