Betty Lou Moore

Betty Lou Delaney Moore, age 90, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Kentucky.

Born on May 21, 1935, in Ashland, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Nora Bell Salyer Delaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, William Nelson Moore, who passed away in 2009.

Mrs. Moore was a proud graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1953, and went on to attend Ashland Junior College. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with her family. She had a passion for traveling and cooking and was deeply involved in church and community life.

A current member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she was active in the Afternoon Circle. She previously attended Calvary Episcopal Church for over 50 years, where she was involved in the Episcopal Church Women, St. Catherine's Guild, and the Altar Guild. Early in her career, she worked for seven years as a switchboard operator at Ashland Oil. However, she found her greatest fulfillment in her roles as "Mom" and "Granny."

She is survived by her two daughters, Carla Ann Moore Mulvaney (Brent) of Versailles, KY, and Catherine Jayne Moore Elsea (David) of Pinehurst, NC; three grandchildren, Meghan Berndsen (Jacob) of Cincinnati, OH, John Mulvaney (Cecilia) of Yorktown, VA, and Meredith Steimle (Michael) of Raleigh, NC; and four great grandchildren, Hunter Berndsen, Riley Berndsen, Martin Mulvaney, and Nicholas Steimle.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Trinity Station Retirement Community.

A private funeral service will be held at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Jacqueline Compton officiating. Mrs. Moore will be laid to rest at Ashland Cemetery.
