Connette Verie "Connie" McCullough, 84, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Ashland, Kentucky. Born on April 20, 1941, in Ashland, to the late Grace Smith, Connie was a woman of intelligence and boundless love, whose presence enriched the lives of everyone around her.

Connie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was the cherished wife of 64 years to Arthur McCullough, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. Together, they raised a family that became her pride and joy: sons Arthur McCullough and his wife Carolyn of Trussville, Alabama, Michael McCullough of Ashland, and daughter Lesley McCullough, also of Ashland. Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with enthusiasm, leaving a legacy of fond memories for her grandchildren Matthew (Kayla) McCullough, William (Cheyanne) McCullough, Molly McCullough, Alec (Makayla) McCullough, Maverick McCullough, Megan Atkins, and Ryan Atkins. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Wesley, Bodhi, Isla, and Violet.

Connie's brothers, Richard Hess of Ashland and Todd Hess of Charlotte, North Carolina, alongside her sister Kim Hess of Ashland, will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who were blessed to know her.

Connie was a proud graduate of Raceland High School class of 1959. Professionally, Connie was a dedicated retail sales associate at Belk Department Store, where she was known for her warm smile and the personalized attention she gave to every customer. Her professional life, however, was second to her role as a loving homemaker, a title she held with honor and grace. She created a home filled with warmth, where anyone could find comfort and a listening ear.

Connie was also an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, where her faith and commitment to service shone brightly. Her involvement in the church community was an extension of her caring nature, and her impact there was deeply felt.

Describing Connie as intelligent, loving, and selfless only scratches the surface of the remarkable woman she was. Her ability to nurture and her unwavering support were the hallmarks of her character. She approached life with a gentle strength and a generous heart, always putting the needs of others before her own.

As we bid farewell to Connie, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her spirit will continue to guide us, and her memory will live on as a source of comfort and inspiration. Connette Verie "Connie" McCullough's story is one of love, and her legacy is one of the profound impacts-a life beautifully lived and a soul profoundly cherished.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Wednesday evening at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00am Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father D. Andrew Canon Garner, KHS, presiding. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Holy Family Church, 900 Winchester Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
