Obituary For Betty Nell Simmons
Betty Nell Simmons, the devoted daughter of the late Andrew and Ophelia Beavers, was born on Tuesday, March 13, 1945. A cherished resident of Talladega, Alabama, she departed this life on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the age of 79. Betty was a beloved figure in her community, remembered for her loving spirit, devotion to family, and unwavering faith.
A devoted member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Betty served as President of the Pastor's Aide and sang with joy in the Senior Choir. She also led the Kitchen Committee, where her warmth and culinary talents brought comfort and joy to countless events.
Betty was educated at Talladega County Central High School (formerly Talladega County Training School). Betty embraced a long and fulfilling career, retiring after more than 25 years of dedicated service to AIDB-Helen Keller School. Her commitment and work ethic touched many lives, but it was her personal connections and community service that left an indelible imprint on all who knew her.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her sisters, Catherine Collins and Cathy Dickerson; her brother, Charles Beavers; her sister-in-law, Mary Ragland; her special nieces and nephew, Takesa (Norman) Smith, Latonya Beavers and Letrek Beavers who mourn her loss deeply. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she lovingly cared for the Lambert children as their nanny, helping to shape their young lives with kindness and guidance: Ashlee Lambert Hughes (Patrick), Degee Lambert Rawls (Josh), and Tommy Lambert (Jordan); she also leaves their children: Tucker Brown, Griffin Hughes, Caroline Brown, McCalldin Lambert, Braegan Lambert, and JR Rawls; her godchildren, Wilma D. Jackson, Marchelle McCluney (Terry), Bonita Gordon (Byron), Charlotte Carlisle (Demetrius), Anthony Carlisle (Erika) and Teri White (Barry), along with her extended family in California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, feel Betty's absence keenly. Her special friend, Winnie Hunley, and many others who loved her will forever miss her laughter, wisdom, and generous spirit.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ophelia Beavers; siblings, Florence Sims, Doris Merritt, Deborah Beavers, Emma Garrett, Alphonzo Beavers, Andrew Beavers, Jr., Willie Beavers, Johnny Frank Beavers, Barron Beavers, Jerry Beavers, and Richard Rogers. Now reunited, they stand together once more.
May Betty's soul find eternal peace, and may her light continue to guide and inspire us all.

Will truly miss the phone calls that Cousin Betty and I shared, those that took us way back in our growing up childhood days.
As we call them the good ole days.
