Betty Jane Vacek

Betty Jane Vacek, 83, of Sugar Land, Texas went to be with God on June 19, 2025, in Sugar Land, Texas. Betty was born on October 22, 1941, in Schulenburg, Texas to her loving parents Sidney Vacek and Mary Ann (Kreitz) Vacek.
Betty earned her bachelor's degree from Lamar Tech, now known as Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas and went on to become a schoolteacher for Lamar Consolidated ISD, dedicating over 30 years to shaping the young minds of her students at various elementary and middle schools in the district. Betty enjoyed playing Bunco games with friends, attending the Young at Hearts club for bingo, visiting with her loved ones, and she was also a big Astros and Texans fan. She was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, Texas, where she was a Eucharist Minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, in various capacities, for over 55 years. She also served as Vice President of Catholic Life, Branch 27. Being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be truly missed by all.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Mary Ann Vacek, her husband, Richard Vacek; her in-laws, Charles and Sophie Vacek; her son-in-law, Patrick Valerian; and nephew, Matthew Vacek.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Theresa James and husband, Vinton, and Ann Valerian; her brothers, Larry Vacek and wife, Kathy, and Kenneth Vacek and wife, Rose; her grandchildren, Vinton Lee James and wife, Hailey, Tarah Lawrence and husband, Philip, Valerie Valerian, Thomas Valerian and wife, Julianna, and Travis Valerian; and her great-grandchild, Sebastian Lawrence, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
The funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Pallbearers will include Travis Valerian, Vinton James IV, Brian Vacek, Thomas Valerian, Chip Vacek, and Vinton James V.
