Betty Jean Whitacre 75 of Garrettsville passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at UH Portage Medical Center. She was born January 4, 1949 in Warren, Ohio to the late Sam and Lois (Wyatt) Croft. Betty was an Adult Services Worker for the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities, retiring in 2011. Betty's favorite activities included attending any of her grandchildren's events, camping and enjoying trips to the beach. Survivors include her husband of 56 years Walter Whitacre, sons Mark (Terri Zeaman) Whitacre and Bill (Kim) Whitacre, her grandchildren; Paige Rose, Haley and Adam Whitacre, siblings Nancy Downey, Dale Gilbert and Dave Croft, and her special fur friend Baby Girl. She was preceded in death by sisters Joan Hebb and Brenda Croft. There will be no calling hours or services. At her request, cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the staff at UH Portage Medical Center and the Hospice of Western Reserve for their care. Memorials should be made to the Portage County Special Olympics, 2606 Brady Lake Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266. Condolences and memories of Betty may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
