Beverly Jean Fehnel, a beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully at her home in Bethlehem on Thursday, June 26, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of her family. Born on June 3, 1943, in the same town that she would later leave her indelible mark, Beverly's life was one marked by devotion to her family and her faith.
Beverly's journey began as the daughter of the late Carl Hughes and Evelyn (Snyder) Hughes, and she grew up alongside her siblings, each of whom shared in the tapestry of her life's story. She attended Catasauqua High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1961.
While working her first job as a waitress at The Dutch Kitchen Diner on Airport Road, she met David Paul Fehnel, who would later become her beloved husband for 62 years. Their love story was one for the ages, built on mutual respect, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Bev embraced her new role as a loving mother and raised her growing family with steadfast dedication. Her children, Debbie, David, Jeff, and Jenn, were the center of her universe, and she instilled in them the values of hard work, compassion, and the importance of family.
Beverly eventually returned to the workforce, serving as a secretary in the Court Administration Office at the Northampton County Courthouse for 20 years until her well-earned retirement.
In her personal life, Beverly was an active member of her community, a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church of Schoenersville, and later, St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bath. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and inspiring those around her.
Bev's legacy is carried on by her loving husband, Dave, and their children: Debbie Ricapito and husband Joe of Red Hill, David Fehnel Jr. and wife Lori of Bethlehem, Jeff Fehnel and wife Nina of Macungie, and Jenn Moll and husband Gordon of Bethlehem.
Her influence is also evident in the lives of her 12 grandchildren: Lauren Turner (Brad), Morgan Callahan (Ron), Tyler Fehnel (Erica), Dustin Fehnel (Hailey) JD Ricapito (Natalie), Zack Moll (Kirstin), Derek Moll (Brooke), Aubrey Moll, Mitchell Moll, Payton Moll, Katie Fehnel, Tommy Fehnel, and 14 great-grandchildren: Maya, Liam, Macie, Rowan, Daniel, Rose, Laney, Everleigh, Reagan, McKenna, Rhodes, Hayden, JR, and Adaline, who will continue to cherish and honor her memory.
She is further survived by her siblings: Carl Hughes (Michelle), Joyce Calabrese, and Linda Ellow (Michael), brother-in-law Steve Muldoon, and many nieces and nephews. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, sisters, and brother-in-laws: Carol Osipower (Ken), Pat Rodgers (Jack), Richard Calabrese, and Sandy Muldoon, but the memories they shared will continue to resonate with all who knew them.
Beverly Jean Fehnel lived a life full of purpose, kindness, and an enduring love for her family. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but the beauty of her spirit and the joy she brought to the world will remain forever. She was a woman who not only lived but truly thrived, leaving behind a legacy that will be honored and remembered by all who knew her.
