Beverly Nona Nelson

KAYSVILLE - Beverly Nona Nelson, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend passed May 17, 2022, from esophageal cancer. She passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family. Beverly was born in San Diego, California on January 31, 1944, as the only daughter and middle of three children of Carleton and Mary Williams. She graduated from Mount Miguel High School in 1961 and from San Diego State University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1965. She married her eternal companion, Doyle Reed Nelson, in the Los Angeles Temple on November 15, 1968. Together, they had a wonderful life, raising five boys, building their own home, and succeeding in their individual careers. They are the proud grandparents of 22 grandchildren ranging in age from 1 month to 23 years.
Beverly spent her life in the service of others. She loved teaching children. She was an elementary school teacher for 33 years and ran her own preschool in the basement of her west Kaysville home for several years prior. In 1999, she received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Davis County School District for the hundreds of students she has inspired and taught with love and encouragement. She loved doing things for other people and had many friends. She enjoyed singing, reading, family history, homemaking, camping, and family vacations. She loved chocolate, pickles, fresh tomatoes, going to the theater, and getting her hair done. She was always eager to help and often volunteered for service opportunities. As a faithful convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings in the several wards and stakes in which she resided. She had a great love for the Savior Jesus Christ and a strong, abiding testimony of His restored gospel. She loved sharing this testimony with others. Beverly and her husband served two missions for the Church – one guiding visitors and youth groups along the Mormon Trail near Martin's Cove, Wyoming, and another mission as part of Correctional Services in Salt Lake City responding to inmate's letters.
She is dearly loved by many and is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Reed, and her five boys: Chadd, Phoenix, AZ; Trent, Kaysville, UT; Brett, Boston, MA; Travis, Highland, UT; Cory, Lehi, UT. She is also survived by her younger brother, Thomas Williams, Ocean Beach, CA. She is preceded by her parents, Carleton and Mary, her older brother, Jerry Williams, and her granddaughter, Anna Nelson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Webster Ward Chapel, 205 S. Angel Street, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton Utah and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to refugee and humanitarian relief organizations.
