Obituary of Beverly Ione Thomas
Beverly Ione Thomas, 92, of Plymouth, MN, formerly of Duluth, MN, passed away August 13th, 2024, peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born June 10th, 1932, in Hibbing, MN to Wilson and Zoe (Hunker) McFarland. Beverly was united in marriage to William (Morley) Thomas on October 16th, 1954, in the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing, MN.
Beverly graduated from Hibbing High School, after High School she attended Hibbing Jr. College, St. Cloud State and then graduated from UMD with a Master 's degree in Elementary Education. Beverly taught in the Duluth Public School systems for years before retiring to Maple Grove.
Beverly enjoyed golfing into her 80's, bible study, knitting newborn hats for North Memorial Hospital, playing cards with her friends on Friday nights and most of all spending time with her family.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, husband William, and brother, Dr. Jack McFarland.
Beverly is survived by her daughter Susan (Dana) Miller,and Son David (Paula)Thomas; four grandchildren; Megan (Josh) Miller, Kaylene (TJ) Thomas, Jason (Jami) Thomas, Paul (Marissa) Thomas; great-grandson Morley Thomas.
Our family would also like to give a special thank you to North Memorial Hospice care, especially her nurse (Shelby) and social worker (Wilder) for the exceptional care and help they gave to Bev and our family during her journey. Also, to Ark on the River; Donna made Beverly's last couple of weeks very comfortable and gave great care and comfort to her.
A small service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to either the Disabled American Veteran Society or Animal Humane Society.
