Among his notable achievements was participating in the first four moon chases. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Rome Plow and then dedicated over 20 years to Bynum, where he advanced from welder to Quality Control specialist, performing x-rays on tanks. Following retirement, he owned White’s Radiators, serving the Piedmont community.
Billy and his beloved wife Virginia shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed lake outings, RV travels, motorcycle rides across the country, and exploring new destinations. Yard sales, especially the annual 411-yard sale, were a cherished pastime. An avid car enthusiast, Billy loved restoring antique vehicles and was a devoted NASCAR fan.
A committed member of Lozahatchee Lodge #97 in Piedmont, Billy was to receive his 50-year pin this year, which the lodge will honor posthumously at his funeral.
He is survived by his wife Virginia; siblings Betty Kelley (Donnie), Anne Stoneburner (David); sister-in-law: Sue Deason; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors who provided exceptional care to Billy over the years.
