James Robert Massey, age 73, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born November 28, 1950, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late James Thomas Massey and Etrulia Jones Massey. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Barbara Parnell.
Bob was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School Class of 1969 and a graduate of Forrest College. He was an account manager for Carolina Pride for 41½ years. Bob proudly served in the National Guard for 6 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Bob loved the simple things in life and was devoted to his family, who meant more to him than anything. He attended Nell Townsend Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Donna Massey; daughter, Tracy Massey Spires and her husband Stuart; grandchildren, Cameron Spires and his fiancé Morgan Dutton, and Katie Spires; brother, Frank Massey and his wife Linda; sisters-in-law, Sandra Gibson and Shelby Minyard; and special friends, Jackie and Sharon Arnold.
The family would like to thank the staff of AnMed Medical Center 6 South and 4 Center, and Rainey Hospice House for the love and care given to Bob.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jackie Arnold officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
The family will be at the residence.
