Bobbie Jean Warren Bridges, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 18, 2025 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Lelia Brown Warren and the wife of 65 years to the late James “Jim” Lawrence Bridges.
Bobbie retired from General Dynamics after 20 years and previously worked in the office at Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She was the Salutatorian of her class of 1953 at Walter M. Williams High School. She and Jim were married in 1953 on the CBS “Bride and Groom” show in New York City. Bobbie was a lifetime member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and the Truth Seeker’s Sunday School class. She loved to read and helped with the library at her church. Bobbie enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, especially scrabble with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed beach trips, holidays and special occasions with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Rick) Faulkner of Graham, Janie Petardi of Fort Mill, SC, Arlene (Kent) Thompson of Graham and Jimmi Anne (Scott) Johnson of Statesville; grandchildren, Jenna (Jesse) Wood, James Petardi, Stefan (Kirsten Collins) Faulkner, Brigett Faulkner and her fiancé, Dakota Jones and Trevor Johnson; great grandchildren, Zoey and Zachary Wood; nephew James Rook (Sue, Dawn & Michael) and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother, Thelma K. Warren and sister, Wilma J. Rook.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 12:00PM at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Lewis Baber and Rev. Kevin Brown. The burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:45AM prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Susan Faulkner in Graham.
