Bobbie L. Dill

Bobbie Lee (Haefke) Dill of Wheaton, IL, passed away on her 76th birthday at RML Specialty Hospital. She passed peacefully with her husband of 59 years, John, and her daughter, Jamie, by her side.
Bobbie was born to the late Marjorie (Dudley) Haefke and Rudolph Haefke, Sr. in Evanston. She is survived by her husband, John, son Douglas (Kris), and daughter Jamie; her grandchildren Travis Dill, Rebecca (Bevan) Meissner, and Lucas Martin; and her brother Rudolph Haefke, Jr. Bobbie was a caring aunt to Robert (Elke) Haefke, Bobbie Jean Haefke, Linda (Todd) Heide, Beau (Caryn) Haefke, Tabitha Haefke, Jack Haefke, Scott Jewell, Ginger (Rob) Welter, Kathleen (Alex) Kallend, Catherine Dill, Cheryl Williams, Darlene Williams, Glenn Williams, and Ashely Williams.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bill (Joan) Jewell and Don (Jean) Haefke.
Soon after Bobbie was born, the family moved to Athens, GA, to be close to Marjorie's family. Athens is where Bobbie sowed her southern roots. At age nine, they returned to Evanston where she enrolled in a small Lutheran school. After graduating in a class of 12 students she moved on to Evanston Township High School, which had an enrollment of 6,000 students! When John went back to high school after a short enlistment in the Navy, he met Bobbie, and the rest, is history.
Bobbie was bright, handy, creative, resourceful, practical, hard-working, and shared the right amount of wit and wisdom when you needed it. She truly enjoyed being social and laughing with friends! Although she came from a family of meager means, together with John, they created their own American Dream. They started their family at a very young age and bought their first home in Lombard, IL, in 1972. Bobbie worked in a variety of part-time jobs while they raised two children in Lombard and put them through college. At age 35, Bobbie attended the College of DuPage, earning her Associate Degree in Applied Science in 1984 and graduating with honors. That same year John and Bobbie started their computer consulting company where they worked side-by-side for many years. They turned it into a very successful business which they sold in 2020.
Bobbie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, travel, painting, bowling, and gardening.
Visitation will be held at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St, Glen Ellyn, on July 23 from 10am–noon. Services will be held at the funeral home at noon.
