Bonnavere "Bonnie" Shank Parker-Carr, 98, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Mill Manor Care Center in Vermilion, OH.
She was born in Kingsville, OH, to Madge and Clel O. Shank on December 2, 1926.
Bonnavere graduated from Kingsville High School where she was a cheerleader for three years and member of a winning debate team. She attended Kent State University, majoring in Liberal Arts. She married John D. Parker, and they raised four children: Sharon S. Parker, Brenda L. Eastlake, John J. Parker, and Dianne M. Parker, who carried out her greatest wish that they would all get a good college education and be productive members of society.
For several years, she was a reporter for the Kingsville news for the Ashtabula Star Beacon, The Jefferson Gazette, and the Conneaut News Herald. She then went on to be the Director of the Kingsville Library and later moved to the Conneaut Carnegie Library, where she served the library community for 27 years.
A lifetime member of the Kingsville Presbyterian Church, she served as an Elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the choir. She was also an avid reader and would devour any book she could get her hands on.
After John died, she married Charles E. Carr, and they enjoyed traveling to New Zealand, Australia, the British Isles, Turkey, Central America, Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, and most of the National Parks. For nearly twenty years, they resided in Ruskin, Florida during the winter, and in Kingsville, OH during the summers. She enjoyed living with Sharon and her family for many years until her death.
Left to cherish the memories of Bonnie are her children, Sharon S. Parker, Brenda L. Eastlake, John J. Parker, and Dianne M. Parker. Bonnie has twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John D. Parker; her second husband, Charles E. Carr; and her brother David Shank.
Donations may be made to the Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 E Main St, Kingsville, OH 44048 or the Kingsville Public Library, 6006 Academy St, Kingsville, OH 44048.
To honor her request, there will be no public services. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Lulu Falls in Kingsville.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave. Ashtabula, OH. Online obituary and condolences can be made at www.ducro.com.
