ASHTABULA - Oma Dudley, 87, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Oma was born on May 17, 1938 in East McDowell, KY, the daughter of Jobie and Alvanie (Howell) Akers and had been an area resident since 1957 after moving here from Langley, KY.
On June 23, 1956, she married the love of her life, Homer Dudley.
Prior to her retirement in 1994, she worked 18 years for Iten Industries as a machine operator. Always a hard worker, she said she never had any time for hobbies other than her family, shopping, and church. A longtime member of the First Assembly of God (now Gateway Church), her faith was always an important part of her life.
Oma is survived by her husband of 69 years, Homer Dudley; her son, Rev. Christopher Dudley; two grandchildren Christmas Holly Walls and Christopher Colt Dudley; great-grandchildren, Christopher Reece Dudley, Sadie Grace Dudley, Waylon Harland Walls; two sisters, Ella Hicks of Ashtabula and Clara Conley of Marysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Juanita Hughes and Sheila Dudley; her siblings, Prudy Tackett, Shirley Gayheart, Lonnie Akers, Bonnie Callaway, Linda Grimmett, and Larry Akers; and her parents.
Friends and family will be received from 12-1:30PM with a service to be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula. Rev. Christopher Dudley, her son and Assistant Pastor of Antioch PFWB, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Cemetery in Ashtabula, OH.
