Douglas Wayne Cox, 78, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Erie VA Medical Center, Erie, PA after an extended illness.
Born on December 29, 1946 in Christianburg, VA, he was the son of Raymond and Irene (Jones) Cox and had been an Ashtabula County resident since 2005.
A veteran of the US Army, Doug served two tours in Vietnam before being honorably discharged.
Prior to his retirement in 2004 in Virginia, Douglas spent most of his working career as a Truck Driver/Dispatcher/Transportation Manager for Ward Transportation and Eaton Metals in Denver, CO.
A member of the Pentecostal Church of God, Doug loved spending time with his church family and friends and enjoyed working on cars, travelling, gardening, flowers, music, and taking care of his home. Always one with a soft spot for animals, he treasured his dogs Angel and Honey.
His survivors include his wife, Joan (Wiesenthal) Cox, whom he married October 19, 2000; his children, Robert (April) Cox, Jonathan (Derika) Brahmer, Joshua (Kari) Brahmer; daughter-in-law, Anna Fedorko; grandchildren, Douglas, Andrew, Joseph, and Anthony Cox; and his cousin, Sami Wels.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Cox and Kenneth Cox; his twin brother in infancy, Donald Cox; and his parents.
A calling hour will be held from 2 to 3PM with a service to follow at 3PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Road, Ashtabula. Rev. Kenneth Roberts will officiate with full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Dewey Howlett Post #103. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville, OH at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentecostal Church of God.
