Bonnie Rose Hacker, age 87, a lifelong resident of
Martinsville, Indiana, gained her angel wings on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 7:15 p.m., while in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was born on Thursday, October 20, 1938, in
Martinsville, Indiana, to John A. and Alice May (Ferrand) Kenworthy. She was one of seven children and a proud graduate of Martinsville High School, Class of 1957.
Bonnie dedicated much of her working life to caring for others through her work. She was a cook for 30+ years, first at Frisch's Big Boy, followed by Fred's Restaurant and Poe's Cafeteria. In 1995, she began working in housekeeping at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center, where she happily served for several years before retiring.
Bonnie found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved flower gardening, vacationing, doing word search puzzles, feeding the birds, cooking, and going to yard sales. Above all, she cherished spending time with her beloved family. Bonnie also took great pride in helping others whenever she could. She attended the Methodist Church in Martinsville for many years prior to her failing health.
Bonnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, including her three sons, Randy Hacker (Nancy), Kelly Hacker (Sharon), and Tony Hacker (Lisa), all of Martinsville; ten grandchildren, Erin, Erik, Brandon, Courtney, Chantal, Aimee, Allison, Jake, Hunter, and Cody; and several great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John William Hacker; an infant daughter, Cheryl Ann Hacker, in 1960; four brothers, William "Bill," Freddy, Ray, and John Kenworthy; and two sisters, Betty Olsen and Dorothy "Dottie" Farrand.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville.
