Boyd Melvin Talley, 82, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, May 10,2024. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. 

He was born in Augusta County on July 29, 1941, to the late Mervin Richard and Elizabeth Catherine Smith Talley.

Boyd dedicated many years of his life to asphalt paving with the Harrisonburg-based company, Adams Construction. Known for his strong work ethic and passion for his job, he poured his time and talents into this laborious work, finding joy and satisfaction despite the challenges of dirt, sweat, and intense labor.

Outside of work, Boyd found happiness and peace while fishing and treasured the moments spent with his beloved family. He will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his work and his profound love for family. 

He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Joan Elaine Eckard Talley, who survives him. He is also survived by his sons, Christopher Boyd, Daryl Melvin, and Gary Paul Talley; his daughters, Shelia Elaine Talley Barahona and Penny Lynn Talley Smith; his brother, Rodney Calvin Talley; his sisters, Ruby Jean Talley Arnold, Mildred Mae Talley Hedrick, and Lessle Catherine Talley Newell; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Darlene Talley and his brothers, David Glen Talley, Clyde Melton Talley, Charles Richard Talley and Floyd Chester Talley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will take place at the same location at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, with interment to follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Mateo Barahona, Rodney Talley, Shawn Talley, Josh Talley, Jonathan Talley, and Derek Rexrode.

Mike Agnor and Bill Eavers will serve as the honorary pallbearer.
