Rockville – Brenda Sue Chaney, 85, of Rockville, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute. She worked at the Sewing Factory in Clinton. She was born on August 8, 1940, in Hume, Illinois, to the late Emery Brown and Olive Combs Brown.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Rodney D. Chaney, whom she married on January 1, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving her daughter Rhonda Oldham of Rockville; two sons, Thomas Osmer (Eunice) Chaney of Paris, Illinois and Finley Walter (Robin) Chaney of Laramie, Wyoming; and her brother David (Delores) Brown of Redman, Illinois; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Paris High School and a member of the Montezuma Independent Baptist Church. She had a passion for sewing and weaving, regularly sharing her love for the art at Billie Creek Village through loom demonstrations for many years. She also enjoyed playing the organ.
Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, September 12, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 281 N Main St. in Rosedale with Pastor Keith B. McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, September 11. Memorials should friends so desire may be made to The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care,1606 N 7th Street
