Brenda Sue Duncan (née Finnern), age 54, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Born on November 18, 1970, also in Springfield, Brenda's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, resilience, and unforgettable memories.

Brenda was the daughter of Les and Dorothy (Fulington) Finnern. She was born into a unique and colorful world-raised in the circus life alongside her parents. Her early years were spent traveling from town to town, immersed in the wonder and excitement of the big top. This unconventional upbringing instilled in her a deep sense of adventure and an unshakable spirit that would define her throughout her life.

On July 4, 1997, Brenda married Bruce Duncan, the love of her life. Their bond was forged on the dance floor-where they first met-and strengthened over three decades of shared joy and unwavering partnership. Together for 30 years, Brenda and Bruce found happiness not only in each other but also in their shared love for cooking. Their kitchen was often filled with laughter and the delicious aromas of Brenda's specialties: chili, taco salad, enchiladas, and burritos.

Brenda was a devoted mother to Toenisha Finnern, Sherale Mcelroy , Celeste Finnern, Stefan Collette, Bell Stewart, Daunte Lindsey. Her family grew to include sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren-each one holding a special place in her heart.

She had an infectious energy that drew people to her. Whether dancing at the club with her daughters or singing along to old school hip hop-her favorite song being "The Night We Met" by Keith Sweat-Brenda lived life with passion and authenticity. Her stubborn streak was well-known among those who loved her, but so too was her boundless generosity; she would give anyone anything they needed, even if it meant going without herself.

Brenda's legacy is one of fierce love, joyful movement, rich flavors from her kitchen, and music that stirred the soul. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless others who were touched by her warmth and strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Les and Dorothy Finnern; and her sister Mary Finnern Catherine Little May Finnern

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
