Brett Jason Sams, 54, of Decatur, Alabama passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 17, 1969, to Lloyd Sams and Donna Ligon Thomas. Anyone that knew Brett knew he loved Alabama Crimson Tide Football almost as much as he loved his two daughters. Brett will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, and he never met a stranger.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Andrew King officiating. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Moulton Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his two daughters, Ashley Sams (Trey) and Taylor Sams (Austin); mother, Donna Ligon Thomas (Charles); two brothers, Ben Sams (Donna) and Beau Sams (Sarah); two sisters, Darbi Crumpton (Todd) and Samantha Clines (Cody); and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Brett was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Sams; brother, Bradly Sams.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family extends special thanks to Aunt Danny Wiley for her care and support of Brett for the last eight years.
