Brian L. Koop

Brian L. Koop, 75, of Lapeer (formerly of Clinton Township, MI) passed away on December 12, 2025. He was born in Royal Oak, MI on May 21, 1950, to Wally & Elfriede Koop. Brian was a Computer-Aided Designer for General Motors for many years and retired from Valeo after 10 years of design work. In his retirement he enjoyed driving a school bus for the Macomb Intermediate School District. Brian enjoyed researching his family's genealogy and observing nature. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who he cherished. His loss was sudden and he will be deeply missed.
Brian is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Koop; his son Matt (Stacey) Koop; daughter Shannon (Jason) Vrbanac; grandchildren Nicholas (Ashley) Koop, Noah (Lily) Koop, Brenden Koop, Alyssa Vrbanac and Danny Vrbanac; great-granddaughter Rory Mae Koop; brothers Rodney (Bev) Koop and David (Mary) Koop; sister Joyce Nordstrom; sister-in-law Billie Maier; also many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.
Brian was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents; brother-in-law Norman Maier; sister Maureen Caltrider; nephew Kyle Koop.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Brian will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
