Brian Carvey Meagher, age 82, of New City, New York passed away on February 26,2025.
Brian Carvey Meagher was born on June 10, 1942 to the late Thomas Francis and Sarah Meagher (nee Carvey) in The Bronx. Brian was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Marie (nee Maher), who died in October 2010. Brian was the loving father of Alison Heaton (Seth), Brian Jr. (Christy) and Justin (Ellen), and grandfather to Aidan, Ronan, Abigael, Sarah, Patrick, Colin, Abigail, Margaret Jean, Emmet, and Thomas. Brian is also survived by his brother Terry, and preceded in death by his granddaughter Patricia, brothers Tom, Kevin and his sister Eileen Boyle.
Brian was a proud graduate of St. Jerome's Grammar School, Cardinal Hayes High School, John Jay College (BA) and Long Island University (MS), After high school, Brian joined the Army and then became a member of the NYPD. His favorite commands were the 32nd, 24th precincts and Manhattan South Narcotics along with his time serving as a Director on the Sergeant's Benevolent Association. Along with his father and uncle, Brian was a founding member of the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. He was proud to contribute to this legacy of celebrating Irish culture in the New York City area. He later joined Travelers Insurance Company (which became Citigroup) and had a second career as an investigator for 30 years.
Brian was a great storyteller armed with a remarkable memory. He had a special gift for connecting with others. He loved his travels with his family as well as the NYPD Pipe and Drum band. He shared his love of life, Irish culture and the bagpipes with all his friends and family. During retirement, Brian volunteered for Meals on Wheels and sang with the St. Francis of Assisi Church Choir. Brian was a doting grandfather who was actively involved in his grandchildren's lives.
The family will receive friends at the JOSEPH W. SORCE FUNERAL HOME, INC. WEST NYACK Sunday, March 2, 2025, 2-8 pm. Mass, Monday March 3, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi, West Nyack. My thoughts and prayers are with Allison, Brian & Justin as well as all my cousins. I loved and enjoyed many wonderful memories with Brian and Patty. I still enjoy the recording Brian did on the origins of the pipe band. May he rest in peace reunited with Patty!

My sincere condolences to Brian Jr., Justin and Meagher Family. Brian Sr., you were a very kind, mentoring, elder bandsman when I came into the Band. I loved your sense of humor and your Irish pride. God Bless you and RIP brother.
