Britt Edward Gregurich, age 68, of Auburn, California, died on October 15, 2024 at home under the care of his brother and Hospice, after a short but brutal battle with cancer. She was born on March 4, 1956 to the late Lad and Anne (Anderson) Gregurich. She grew up in Brookfield, Illinois.
Britt attended Arizona State University then went on to master carpentry. Her work ethic and determination led her to form her own company, Monico Construction Inc. Monico executed projects in Chicago, LA, and the Bay Area. Work included framing single family homes, buildings for Google and Apple, and the installation of seismic retrofits. Britt took great pride in applying creativity and style as well as providing value in the execution of the projects. [monicoconst.com]
German Shepherds and motorcycles were the threads running through her life. They symbolized Britt's strength and energy. Britt raced Motocross and Enduro beginning in the 1970's, and continued biking on and off road her whole life. Always a dog lover, her favorite breed was German Shepherd and she had one beside her most all of her life.
Britt was a skillful and prolific photographer. She worked with models, here and in Europe, and mastered large format shooting. Her home is a showcase of photos of her worldwide journeys, friends, architectural ideas, and of course, German Shepherds.
Britt loved to travel and read, both of which added to her broad knowledge and insightful perspectives, on which she was more than happy to expound. She was inspired to consider new ideas and places and didn't let conventions restrict her. She trekked in the mountains of Morocco, explored China, and spent considerable time in Europe. But her cherished places were the many mountain trails and lakes not far from her Auburn home, as well as the forests and lakes in northern Wisconsin where she spent time as a youth.
Britt was always an interesting conversationalist, due to her breadth of knowledge, experience, clever sense of humor, and her appreciation of the absurdities of life. She did not allow herself to be defined by anyone but herself.
Survivors include her brother Don Gregurich of Madison, Wisconsin, nephew and niece, Ryan and Allison Gregurich.
Britt will be buried at the Bohemian National Cemetery in the town of Neva, Wisconsin. No services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
