Edward "Britt" Gregurich, age 68, of Auburn, California, died on October 15, 2024 at home under the care of his brother and Hospice, after a short but brutal battle with cancer. He was born on March 4, 1956 to the late Lad and Anne (Anderson) Gregurich. Ed grew up in Brookfield, Illinois. Ed attended Arizona State University then went on to master carpentry. His work ethic and determination led him to form his own company, Monico Construction Inc. Monico executed projects in Chicago, LA, and the Bay Area. Work included framing single-family homes, buildings for Google and Apple, and the installation of seismic retrofits. Ed took great pride in applying creativity and style as well as providing value in the execution of the projects. (monicoconst.com) German Shepherds and motorcycles were the threads running through his life. They symbolized Ed's strength and energy. He raced Motocross and Enduro beginning in the 1970's, and continued biking on and off road his whole life. Always a dog lover, his favorite breed was German Shepherd and he had one beside him most all of his life. Ed was a skillful and prolific photographer. He worked with models, here and in Europe, and mastered large format shooting. His home is a showcase of photos of his worldwide journeys, friends, architectural ideas, and of course, German Shepherds. Ed loved to travel and read, both of which added to his broad knowledge and insightful perspectives, on which he was more than happy to expound. He was inspired to consider new ideas and places and didn't let conventions restrict him. He trekked in the mountains of Morocco, explored China, and spent considerable time in Europe. But his cherished places were the many mountain trails and lakes not far from his Auburn home, as well as the forests and lakes in northern Wisconsin where he spent time as a youth. Ed was always an interesting conversationalist, due to his breadth of knowledge, experience, clever sense of humor, and his appreciation of the absurdities of life. He did not allow himself to be defined by anyone but himself. Survivors include his brother, Don Gregurich of Madison, Wisconsin; nephew and niece, Ryan and Allison Gregurich. Ed will be buried at the Bohemian National Cemetery in the town of Neva, Wisconsin. No services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future.
