Bruce James Ashwood, 74, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, April 7, 2024. He was born December 17, 1949, to Norman and Margaret (nee Franco) Ashwood in Cleveland, OH.
Bruce was a 1968 graduate of Valley Forge High School. He faithfully served his country in the US Navy from 1968-1972 as a Communications Technician, training in Italy. During his military career, he was also stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he lived with his wife, Linda.
Bruce graduated from Kent State University in 1976 and afterward worked as a Special Agent for various federal agencies.
Bruce treasured spending time with family and friends, and nearly always had a dog by his side. He was also a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and making things for loved ones.
Loving father of Brian Ashwood of Elyria, Matthew (Julia) Ashwood of Columbus, and Daniel Ashwood of Fairborn, OH.
Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Linda L. Ashwood (nee Pleat), sister Amy Deal, and parents Norman and Margaret Ashwood.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 9-11am at the Busch Funeral Home located 114 Second St., Elyria, with the funeral service at 11am. Burial to follow at 1pm at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH.
