McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory - ColumbusBruce Edward Clouser, born on August 8, 1938, in Delmar, Delaware. He passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, in Fortson, Georgia. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bruce was 87 years old at the time of his passing.
Bruce's early life was marked by determination and hard work. Starting as a bag boy at the age of 14 at a local grocery store, he worked his way up to become the store manager in Richmond, Virginia. Later, he bought and ran “Clouser’s Corner,” a country store located in Piney Grove, Georgia. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found and successfully manage B&G Wholesale Produce until his retirement in 2005.
Education was a cornerstone of Bruce's life, and he graduated from Central High School in Painter, Virginia. His commitment to learning continued throughout his life, including becoming a graduate of EFM. Bruce's faith also played a significant role in shaping his character; he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, Georgia, where he led numerous mission trips to New Orleans and Belize. A transformative experience was his participation in the Walk to Emmaus, which had a profound impact on his life and faith.
Bruce will be remembered for his kindness and warm personality. He had a wonderful smile and cherished long, meaningful conversations with friends and family. He had a deep love for boating and being on the water, as well as camping with loved ones. Many fond memories were created during family vacations and countless family dinners that brought everyone together, especially those centered around his favorite dish—crab cakes.
Bruce was proud of his accomplishments, which included being a successful business owner, raising five wonderful and successful children, and being happily married to his beloved wife, Gabrielle Clouser, for 66 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering bond.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Gabrielle; his children, Sheryl Ann Cody (Jeff), April Lynn Gillies (Cody), Laurie Lee James (Mark), Michelle Gay Cook (Sean), and Matthew Bruce Clouser (Melissa); seven granddaughters, Jamie Pepper, Sarah Williams, Whitley Harris, Jessica Lonsdale, Katelyn Bailey, Dakota Turner, and Madison Clouser; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edward Clouser (Ed) and Mildred Baker Clouser, and his brother, Paul Franklin Clouser.
A memorial service to celebrate Bruce's remarkable life will be held on December 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, Georgia. Bruce leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
