Bruce Koopman of Mahopac, NY passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born in New York City on November 4, 1949, the son of Alfred and Ruth V. (McCarthy) Koopman.
Bruce was a graduate of Mahopac High School. He worked in the Town of Carmel Recycling Program for many years and also worked part time with P.A.R.C. in Carmel.
Bruce was a former member of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. He assisted in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
Bruce was an active member of the William Koehler Senior Center in Mahopac. In his spare time, Bruce enjoyed watching movies and sporting events. He frequently joined others in the daily walks at the Jefferson Valley Mall.
He is survived by his sister, Corinne Micale; his brother, Richard Friel; his brother-in-law, John Adelhardt; his nephews Richard, Kevin and Ryan and his niece, Amanda. He was predeceased by his sister, Gail Adelhardt and nephew, John Robert Adelhardt, his sister-in-law, Karen Friel and brother-in-law, Alfonso Micale.
All are welcome to attend a visitation on Friday, January 6 from 4-6 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home where a Prayer Service will commence at 6 pm. Private cremation services will follow and interment of his cremains will take place at Ballard-Barrett Cemetery at a later date.
