Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home & Cremation CenterRock Hill, SC - Bruce S. Melton passed away on November 19, 2025, in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Memorial service will be 2:00 Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home and the family will recieve friends following the service.
Bruce was born on January 28,1950, in Darlington, South Carolina. He was the third of five sons born to Forrest O. Melton, Sr. and Edith Watson Melton. He attended Elevation Church in Rock Hill, SC and Beach Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Bruce graduated from Garinger High School in 1968 and earned two degrees at CPCC in Accounting and Business Management. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1972 as an Intelligence Analyst and served in Vietnam with the 4th Military Intelligence Battalion. Bruce was awarded the Bronze Star in 1971 for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces.
Bruce is preceded in death by his son, Joshua Melton in 2019, his partner of 28 years, Dick Fewell in 2015, his parents, Forrest Melton in 1993 and Edith Melton in 2007, his sister-in-law, Robin Melton in 2013, his nephew Eric Melton in 2018 and his niece, Selwyn Ray in 2020.
Bruce will always be remembered as the most kind, loving and giving man. He was the first to step up and help everyone he loved. He had the biggest heart, and his family was blessed to be able to claim him as “ours.” Now he belongs to Jesus.
Bruce is survived by his brothers, Ken Melton (Delores) of Charlotte, NC. Furman Melton (Cissy) of Crestview, FL, J.R. Melton (Bethany) of Concord, NC, Mark Melton (Dee) of Lincolnton, NC; and his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Unger of Sneads Ferry, NC; his godson, Chris Melton of Lincolnton, NC; his nephews and nieces, Tammi, Laurel, Erin, Ginny, Robbie, Chris, Matthew, Michael, David, Samantha, Rebecca, Wesley, Kyle, Peyton, Kennedie, Darcey Edith, Micah, Noah, Jaden, Ezekiel, Cecelia Ruth, Gavin, David, Ada Robin, Elaine Mae, Hadley, Scottie, Beau and Josie; and his beloved dachshund, Jake.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
