Bruce Rust Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Crematory on Dec. 19, 2023.
Bruce W. Rust, 68
Okeechobee- Bruce W. Rust died December 14, 2023. He was born August 14, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland. A resident of Okeechobee for 21 years, he loved golf cart rides with his dogs, Jr., and Gibbs. He loved boating, fishing, crabbing with his daughter Kim, sports, taking rides with his wife Gale, eating seafood and steamed crabs, family, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Orioles. Bruce was known as a gentle giant at 6' 5". His height was intimidating, but he was a very kind soul. He would go out of his way to help family or friends in need. He was a very hard worker who loved being around people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He always had a smile on his face.
He attended Mount Saint Joseph High School where he played football and was accepted to many prestigious universities. He met the love of his life Gale, while working at The Falcon Lounge as a bouncer. They were married on March 29, 1980 and have been together ever since. He retired from the Painters Union doing tile and seamless flooring. Then he lived and worked at KOA campgrounds in Rodanthe, North Carolina, Fiesta Key, the Florida Keys, and Okeechobee, Florida.
Mr. Rust was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Betty Rust; and sister, Marilyn Rust.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Gale Rust; daughter, Kimberly McAra; brother, Scott Rust; sister, Margaret Rust; and nephews, Brandon, Ryan, Joshua, and Jeramy Rust.
