Byron "Sonny" Wheeler

Byron "Sonny" Wheeler received his angel wings on October 25, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on March 25, 1936, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sonny loved his family and was a loyal, giving friend. He retired from CCAD where he was an aircraft technician at Corpus Christi NAS for many years. Sonny will be lovingly remembered for always living life on his terms. He often entertained his family with his hilarious, dry sense of humor and was known to have an appreciation for a fine cigar. Sonny was a fan of Elvis Presley music, cars, fishing, gardening, and was a great cook, with his soups being a family favorite. He also enjoyed discussing history and was a weather buff.

Sonny is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary "Cassie" Wheeler. He is survived by his daughters Dayna Grace Shaffer (James), Denise Hermila Gmach (Steven), and his cherished grandsons John Byron Shaffer and Nathan Lee Shaffer.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Dr. Corpus Christi, Texas 78412, in the Living Lord Section.
