Calvin Devon Garrett, also known as Solo, departed this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Hartford, CT on April 25, 1988, to Janice and Freddy Garrett. Calvin was the third born child and their only son. He was raised in East Hartford, CT and attended East Hartford High School. Calvin later on received his GED.
Calvin was very intelligent. He spoke five different languages, not all fluently but just enough to let people know that he cared enough to learn new things. Calvin's sense of fashion was unmatched; he had his own sneaker restoration service. He was a poet, singer, songwriter, and dancer. He was just an overall entertainer. He could make you laugh, cry, and mad. He was charismatic and lively, and one thing is for sure he impacted your life. Calvin's personality was so big he filled every room he entered. Calvin met his wife Asia and she helped to change his life.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Janice Garrett-King and her husband Michael of Bloomfield, and Freddy Eugene Garrett of Greensboro, NC; his wife, Asia Taquila-Mone (Oliver) Garrett of Hartford; seven children, Jayden Brown of Manchester, Amani Hines of Hartford, Marcus Garrett of Hartford, Jayden Garrett of Hartford, Quavon Holder of Enfield, Calvin Devon Garrett, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, and Nevaeh Johnson of Hartford; two sisters, Cypcyone Johnson and her husband Romaine of Windsor, and Amani Garrett and her fiancé Tlacey Gaston of New Britain; eight nieces and nephews, Jaionie Martinez of Southbridge, MA, Micah Johnson of Windsor, Maiyah Johnson of Windsor, Zahniah Ansari of New Britain, Karley Campbell of New Britain, Nuri Gaston of New Britain, Yahsir Gaston of New Britain, and Chosen-One Garrett of Kissimmee, FL; a great-nephew, Kayden Jones of Southbridge, MA; two stepdaughters, LaVeya Samuel of Hartford and Kaylyn Samuel of Hartford; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Kisheek Smith; and a brother, Chase Eugene Garrett.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 10-11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, CT Chapter, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or by visiting, www.heart.org/donate.
