Candyce (Candy) Ann Hackley, 75 years young, passed away peacefully in Round Rock, Texas, on December 25, 2024. A loving mother, friend, and devout Follower of Christ, Candyce leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love.
Born Candyce Ann Mennella, she was the beloved daughter of Phillip Anthony Mennella and Opal Agnes Taylor, both of whom preceded her in death. She was an unwavering Christian who devoted her life to spreading the love of Jesus. Known for her joyful spirit, Candyce often sang "This is the Day that the Lord Has Made" and demonstrated deep faith and happiness in life's simple blessings.
Candyce was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and faith. She attended Blinn Junior College before embracing her calling as a mother. Candyce raised her children with love and care and served as a scoutmaster to Joshua's scout troop, instilling values of faith and service in those she guided
Candyce served bravely behind the Iron Curtain during the Perestroika period in the former USSR, smuggling Bibles into a land that desperately needed the truth of Christ's saving grace. She was fearless, unwavering, and determined as she hotly pursued the spread of the Word of God wherever and whenever there was an opportunity.
She co-founded Joshua House Radio, a Christian radio station in Austin, Texas, which was truly ahead of its time. Her strength and courage shone brightly, especially when she battled with stage four cancer in 2009 and emerged victorious and healed, as a symbol of resilience and hope.
She loved music, cooking, making bread, learning, and teaching and exploring with simple joy. She was generous and quick to give to those in need.
She is survived by her five children: Amy Hodge Gantt, Michelle Hodge McAllister, Christy Hodge Prall, Sarah Anne Tyner and Joshua D. Hackley. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A kind soul that dearly loved the Lord and believed in the goodness of Jesus; she is dearly missed by all who were touched by her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands International in honor of her life and service. A memorial service will be held at Crestview Baptist Church on Monday, January 13th at 10:00 am.
Rest in peace, Candyce Ann Hackley. You are now in the arms of the Lord you loved so dearly.
