Carl J. Papp, 77, of Big Bend, WI, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. Proudly born and raised in Piggsville, WI (Milwaukee) in 1947. Carl lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and quiet strength. He was kind, generous, accepting, always offered a lending ear and shoulder and nonjudgemental of everyone. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an E-5 in the Navy's Construction Battalion (Seabees), where he helped build essential infrastructure and embodied the Seabee spirit: "We Build, We Fight." After his military service, Carl worked as a plumber, a trade he took great pride in. Even after retiring, he stayed busy rehabbing homes, always happy to lend his skills to a project or help someone in need. His dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting mark on many homes and hearts.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Papp, and their five children: Carl, Tracy, Dennis, Elliot, and Carol Papp; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Papp and Janet Pappalardo. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and steady presence to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty J. Papp and Carl L. Papp, and his brother, Frank Papp.
In Carl's free time, he enjoyed fishing, gambling, reading, spending time with any animal (especially dogs), and watching Classic Western films; which reflected his quiet toughness and love for simple, timeless values. He was known for his strong sense of humor, loyalty, and his willingness to help without asking for anything in return. A wake and funeral service will be held at Schramka Funeral Home on July 18th, 2025, followed by a graveside service for immediate family only. Carl J. Papp will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. He lived with purpose, served with pride, and left behind a legacy built on love, hard work, and honor.

Carl could instruct the most inept man to build a gazebo and deck, install central air for his pregnant wife, repair plumbing on a mound system (I let it air out first), pull a well and make various repairs. I know first hand as I'm the inept man, the husband of the pregnant wife. (the babies are fine and grown)... Our family is very grateful! Carl is now in Glory with a new body and I will see him again! I will sorely miss our many conversations and the advice that Carl gave. Mark Schlottke
