As the evening sun was going down in the beautiful dusky evening sky, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Carl Windell Reed's precious spirit entered into his heavenly home. We give thanks for the 82 wonderful years of his life.
Carl was a man who loved his Lord and loved his family. He was a devoted member of Beaverdam Baptist Church, where he had served as a church Deacon and where he worshipped and witnessed his faith.
He retired from Dayco Corporation with 34 years of dedicated and loyal service and where he made many life-lasting friendships.
In remembering Carl, we recall his great joy in spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and fun trips at Lake Chatuge with his family. He was also a true Atlanta Braves fan, always cheering them on! Carl's heart was full of love for all children and the many years that he coached girls' softball, brought cherished experiences and memories to all of their lives.
Carl was a good man and a kind man, and whose strong faith and love for his family defined him. His faithfulness to his Lord and Savior was evident in every aspect of his life. His greatest legacy was the love Carl shared with his family. They were his everything and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Carl's life story was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, a proud daddy, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a dear brother and a true friend. In the words of his family, "He had the biggest heart, the sweetest smile and love for everyone." Carl Windell Reed,- always loved, never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Windell Reed and Evelyn Smith Reed, and his brother, Don Reed.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 60 years and the love of his life, Anna Jean Chambers Reed; his daughters, Sandy Livingston and her husband Stan, Vicki Bradford and her husband, Dean and Angie Trull and her husband, Mark; grandchildren, Taylor Watkins (Caleb), Dakota Livingston (Bailee), Summar Sharpe (Levi), Sawyer Trull, Caleb Bradford and Saylor Trull; great-grandchildren, Oakley Sharpe, Piper Sharpe, Beau Livingston, and baby Reed Watkins; his sisters, Mary Smith of Waynesville and Betty Clark of Charlotte; a multitude of dear friends.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Carl will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Beaverdam Baptist Church. Reverend Gene Worley will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Dakota Livingston, Caleb Bradford, Sawyer Trull, Caleb Watkins, Levi Sharpe, and Danny Cope.
Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is deeply honored to be caring for the Reed family.
