Carla Suzanne (DeWester) Fassler, age 77, of Culbertson, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska.
Carla was born in Benkelman, NE on July 8, 1947, to James “Bud” and Wynona (Mullanix) DeWester. She was one of two children: Gary and Carla DeWester. She attended grade school and high school in Benkelman and graduated from high school in May of 1965. Carla attended beauty school in McCook, Nebraska, and then worked as a hairdresser for a few months before starting a family.
Carla married Kim Fassler on April 23, 1966. There were four children born to this union: Danny, Doni, Dee, and Darr. Carla loved her family very much and enjoyed having the grandchildren around. Carla had a green thumb and tended to her garden and flowers every summer. She was also an expert at painting and wallpapering around the house. After raising her children, she worked in the stone yard from 2000 until the time of her passing.
Carla was proceeded in death by her parents James and Wynona; stepfather Keith Springer; husband, Kim Fassler; brother, Gary DeWester; sister-in-law Jan DeWester; and grandson Drew Fassler.
Those left to celebrate Carla’s life are her children, Danny Fassler of Culbertson, NE; Don (Erica) Fassler of Plattsmouth, NE; Dee Fassler (Kristie) of Culbertson, NE, and Darr (Brent) Stehno of Stratton, NE; 14 grandchildren, Stephen, Kendall, Kayson, Jared, Makenzie, Jasmine, Dunncan, Alex, Emily, Chloe, Izzy, Blake, and Kinsley; 4 great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Lane, Raith, and Kolbie; and numerous friends and extended family members.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are to be designated in Carla’s name to be decided at a later date.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday December 2, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Culbertson Methodist Church, 502 Colorado Street, Culbertson NE 69024. Pastor Alisa Parde will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.
