Carlotta Kay Wilcox

Carlotta (Lottie) Wilcox of Loveland, CO went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 31, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 81 years old.
Family will greet friends at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel on Wednesday, April 10, from 9-11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mountain View Presbyterian Church or Dementia Together in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, CO 80537.
Born in Iowa City, IA on September 25, 1942, Lottie grew up in Macksburg, IA, the youngest of eleven children born to Gerald and Mabel McKee. In school, she played basketball and was team captain and an honorable mention on the Iowa girls' basketball all-state team in 1961. She was also Vice President of her senior class
At 16, she met the love of her life, Ken Wilcox, at the Macksburg United Methodist Church and they were married in 1961. They were blessed with two children, Kindra and Kevin. Over their 62-year marriage, they lived in seven communities located in three states, where Lottie raised their two children and worked as an Independent Insurance Agent for 25 years before retiring in 2000.
Lottie was known to be well-organized and a caring person and put those traits to work in every community she lived in. Lottie was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star and was installed as Worthy Matron in Ogallala, NE in 1987. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, joining in 1983 and serving as chapter President in Ogallala, NE and Loveland, CO. In Ogallala, she taught Sunday School at the United Methodist Church. In Loveland, as a member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon for six years.
Lottie, always smiling, had an adventurous spirit and fierce determination, especially when supporting her family. Her husband remembers fondly her love, support, and friendship, giving her significant credit for his successes. Her children, forever grateful, remember her endless encouragement as they reached their own goals. They will treasure memories of her waking them with a song, dancing in the kitchen and keeping them all on track.
Lottie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ken Wilcox, daughter Kindra (Curt Ross) Wilcox of Johnstown, CO, son Kevin (Trudi) Wilcox of Hixson, TN and grandsons Hunter and Trevor Wilcox. She is also survived by sisters Maxine Anderson of Dayton, OH and Afada (Dwight) Silverthorne of Mesa, AZ, brother Larry (Ivy) McKee of Spring, TX, sisters-in-law, Donna McKee and Lola McKee, brothers-in-law, Marvin Chickering and Charles Sinclair and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mabel McKee, sisters Lucille (Art) Brown and Iola Chickering, brothers Francis (Wilma) McKee, Lyman McKee, Bill (Ines) McKee, Roger McKee, Melvin (Dorie) McKee as well as sister-in-law Patricia Sinclair and brother-in-law John Anderson.
