Carmen Stella Cardenas, born in the beautiful town of Taos, New Mexico, passed away on November 6, 2025. A vibrant spirit and cherished sister, Carmen's life was marked by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to her family and friends. She held a unique place in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her, particularly as a middle child among five siblings.

Carmen was a loving sister, dedicated wholeheartedly to the wellbeing of Gloria, with whom she lived since 1988. Always a caring presence in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Carmen poured her time, resources, and affection into those she cherished. Her generosity knew no bounds—her hugs were warm, her advice wise, and her support unwavering.

With a personality that was both proper and ladylike, Carmen could effortlessly bring a smile to your face with her witty sense of humor. Her joy was palpable, especially when she was surrounded by her family, friends, and her immense love for animals. For much of her life, she was devoted to dogs, forming bonds that spoke to her nurturing spirit.

Carmen enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—she found joy in singing, dancing, and her beloved music, whether it be Spanish or Western. Baking was another passion, and she was renowned among her loved ones for her world-famous chokecherry jelly. Carmen embraced her religious convictions, finding solace and strength at the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where her faith flourished.

Throughout her life, Carmen’s kindness extended beyond her immediate family; she built numerous friendships that enriched her world. At El Pueblo, her thoughtful gestures—tips, flowers, and heartfelt cards—were deeply appreciated, cementing her status as a beloved member of her community.

Carmen's proudest accomplishment was her unwavering dedication to caring for her dear sister, Gloria. This bond of love and support was a testament to her character and the great value she placed on family ties.

Carmen is survived by her sisters, Gloria Cardenas, and Bernadette Espinoza (Ernest). She leaves behind a legacy through her loving nephew, Ernesto Espinoza, and her adored nieces: Veronica Flores (Victor), Victoria Piper(Raymond), Melody Martinez (Ty), and Mary Ann Aragon. The joy she imparted also lives on in her great nieces and nephew: Alicia Swann (Jesse), Mikaila Espinoza, Jazlynn Duran, Aaliyah Piper, Kaylee Piper, Novella Espinoza, Gianna Espinoza, Tatum Martinez, Bentley Martinez, and AJ Martinez

Carmen joins her beloved parents, Max and Maria Cardenas, and her sisters, Margaret Duran-Maurilio and Novella Cardenas, as well as her brother, Robert Cardenas (Judy), and niece, Tawny Tafoya, in eternal rest. Her grandparents, Ambrosio and Florentina Cardenas, along with Ramoncita, Alfredo Cardenas, and many aunts and uncles also welcome her home with open arms.

A Rosary will be held on November 19, 2025, at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM, both taking place at Our Lady of Guadalupe. A burial will be held at Las Cruces Cemetery.

Carmen Stella Cardenas will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
