Carol JoAnn Hudson, 79, passed away on January 19, 2025 at her daughters home in Riverdale, NE.
Carol was born on March 06, 1945 in Gothenburg, NE to parents Tony and Bernice (Rasmussen) Gronewold. Carol grew up on a farm north of Gothenburg. She married her high school sweetheart Ron in 1966. While Ron was in Japan in the service, Carol taught English. Upon their return from Japan, they started their family in Axtell, then moved to Sterling, NE, Fairmont, NE, before moving to Shelton in 1987. Carol earned her masters in education at Kearney State College and later taught SPED at UNK from 1991-2012. She lived in Shelton until moving in with Stacey and Pat in November 2023 after Ron passed away.
Carol enjoyed gardening, Husker Volleyball, traveling to grandkids events, Creighton basketball and she loved her cats, most recently Miss Kelly.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Berniece and Tony Gronewold, husband Ronald Hudson, in-laws Earl and Gladys Hudson, sisters Karen Kinnamon, Karma Ripp, and Patti Harris.
Carol is survived by her children, Stacey Winters and spouse Pat of Riverdale, Mark Hudson and spouse Heather of Albion, grandchildren: Layne Hudson, Hank Hudson, Kade Hudson, and Pete Hudson, brother Loren Gronewold and spouse Carol Jean of Sedona, AZ, brother-in-law Jerry Hudson and spouse Joyce of Gothenburg, NE; along with her special cat, Miss Kelly.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg, NE, with the family present.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 27, 2025 at the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Avenue G, Gothenburg, NE; with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating.
Burial will take place in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
