Carol Michael Karwacki of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the age of 81. He died peacefully, after a year-long battle with gallbladder cancer.
Carol was born on August 14, 1941, in Baltimore. He grew up in Highlandtown where he lived with his parents, Samuel and Rosetta Hardester (nee Cunningham) and attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Upon graduation Carol worked for Baltimore City and AT&T as an engineer. From 1967 through 1969, Carol served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
Carol had a very strong faith! He was an active and dedicated member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in East Baltimore and Ascension Lutheran Church in Towson, MD. He exhibited his faith daily in his generosity to others, both to those close to him and to strangers alike. An avid baseball fan and devoted family man, Carol was a life-long Orioles fan and spent much of his time playing baseball growing up. Upon becoming a father, he spent 15 years coaching baseball and soccer with the Highlandtown Exchange Club, Loch Raven Recreation Council, and Concordia Preparatory School (formerly Baltimore Lutheran School). Upon becoming a Pop Pop, Carol took every opportunity to be with and watch his grandchildren participate in all activities. He was dedicated to supporting his family and his community in any way that he could.
Carol is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; son, Kevin; daughter-in-law Tami; and grandchildren Lauren and Brendan.
A Celebration of Life service for Carol is planned for Saturday, April, 22 2023, at 11:00 AM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7601 York Road, Towson, Maryland. All are invited to attend. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
