On October 14th, 2025, Carol Schroeder, aged 92, passed away. She was born in Hornell, NY on April 14, 1933, to Chester and Louise Gabsdell. She was the youngest of four girls.
Carol lived a full and happy life. She was a talented quilter and seamstress and a great cook. She loved entertaining, her home being the hub of many gatherings for friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Carol worked as a legal secretary in Tallahassee, FL and with the Chamber of Commerce in Knoxville, TN. She sang in church choirs throughout her life and became an active member of Grace Lutheran Church upon moving back to Tallahassee in 1998.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward Schroeder and her granddaughter, Katherine Schroeder. She is survived by her three children, Carla Leanillo, Hans Schroeder (Anne) and Karen Schroeder; her grandchildren, Amanda Leanillo, Carson Schroeder, Gavin Leanillo (Meagan), Susannah Escobar (JT), Ben Morgan, and Lilah Schroeder; and two great grandchildren, Lincoln Leanillo and Evva Escobar; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 25th at Grace Lutheran Church, 2919 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee, FL. A reception will precede the service at 10:00 AM in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery on West Piedmont following the service.
Donations in honor of Carol can be made to Heart and Soul Hospice or a charity of your choice.
Kelly Barber and Rocky Bevis of Bevis Funeral Home (850)385-2192 are assisting the Schroeder family with their arrangements.
