In Loving Memory of Carol R. Totten
Carol Roule Totten, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by those who loved her most.
Born on July 15, 1936, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, Carol graduated from West Penn Nursing School and went on to serve as a dedicated nurse at West Penn Hospital for over 40 years. With compassion and exceptional skill, especially in the operating room, she touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with her. Carol found joy in the arts, travel, and, most of all, in sharing laughter and precious moments with her family.
She is survived by her son, William Totten Jr; her stepson, Tim Stuhldreher; her granddaughter, Kimberly Totten; and her brothers, Dennis (Pam) Roule and William Roule. Carol is preceded in death by her loving partner of over 30 years, Michael Stuhldreher; her son, Charles R. Totten; her brothers, Robert Roule and Thomas Roule; and her mother, Irene Roule.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd. at 930 Center Ave. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15238.
Her love, strength, and grace will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know her. We will carry her with us - always.
