Carol Caruso- Zawalich

Carol Caruso- Zawalich, 63, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of Steven Peter Zawalich, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at home. Carol was born in Hartford, CT on March 3, 1959, daughter to the late Albert P. Bull Jr., and Violet (Larson) Bull. Carol graduated from Bloomfield High School, class of 1977. Carol worked proudly as an Office Assistant for companies such as Dynamic Controls and JCJ Architecture, and as a Weight Station Operator for the Town of Windsor Transfer Station before retiring in 2005.
She was a loving wife and mother who devoted herself to her husband. During her leisure, she and Steven enjoyed spending time on their boat and taking day trips to the CT shoreline. Occasionally they would take their metal detectors and comb the beaches in search of treasures. Carol was an advocate for cats and dogs and volunteered her time to care for horses. Later in life, she got back into riding and got her granddaughter involved as well-she truly enjoyed the therapeutic aspects of caring for and riding horses. Carol loved music and listening to her favorite duo Hall and Oates. Music set her soul free and that is something she passed on to her daughters.
Carol is survived by her husband, Steve Zawalich of Bloomfield; a sister-in-law, Deborah Joy of Kerhonkson, NY; her first husband and father of her children, Dablain Caruso and his wife Virginia Paquette of Suffield, CT; her eldest daughter, Meyonna Caruso of West Hartford, CT; a granddaughter, Hailey Champagne of West Hartford; her youngest daughter Nina Caruso and her husband, Eric O'Donnell of Miami, FL; a sister, Inge Coates of Miami, FL; a brother-in-law, Richard Coates of Miami, FL. She also leaves her special feline companion, Mookie, and his new little brother Strudel.
Carol's family will receive family and friends from 4pm-7pm, followed by a prayer service at 7pm, on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave. Windsor, CT. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Spirithorse Therapeutic Riding Center of Canton, Inc., a therapeutic riding center of people of all ages with disabilities.
