Carolyn Pilchard Thompson, 95, of Pocomoke City, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 19, 1927 in Pocomoke City, MD, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Ethelyne Payne Pilchard.
She graduated from Pocomoke High School. Professionally, Carolyn served as a Bookkeeper for many years with Tilghman Company in Pocomoke. She was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ. She was also a member of Bayside Community Church. She is a former member of the Soroptimist Club, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Worcester Chapter #102. In her younger days she assisted with the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary with dinners that they hosted.
Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and she even took the time to pass down her love of music to her family who still play and sing today. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Carolyn was a friend to all who she came into contact with in her family and within the church and the community. She will be missed by all.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Dennis of Pocomoke City; six grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister, Corie Callahan of Crisfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her loving parents; husband, Richard "Dick" Owen Thompson; a daughter, Lynn Blevins; a son-in-law Curtis "Curt" Dennis; two great-grandchildren, Steven Payne and Riley Weeks.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home, Pocomoke City MD 21851. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 12 Noon. Rev. Bob Boyce will officiate. Interment will take place at Pitts Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem UMC 500 Second St, P.O. Box 145, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, Bayside Community Church, 206 Fifth St, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, or Pocomoke City Vol. Fire Company, Inc 1410 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.

We were so sorry to hear that Carolyn passed, but I do remember her so well, for her beautiful piano/organ playing and lovely voice. She had the same sweet smile as Aunt Ethelyn!
