On the morning of June 25, 2025, Cassandra “Cassie” (Mendel) Marvil, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 75, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Cassie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 21, 1950. A graduate of Redemptorist High School, Cassie went on to become a registered nurse, dedicating much of her career to medical-surgical nursing. Her passion for care extended beyond the bedside, as she found her true calling in teaching and mentoring the next generation of nurses. Her legacy lives on in the many students she taught—some of whom lovingly cared for her in her final days. Cassie was an avid reader, and her hobbies included crocheting, diamond art, and watching LSU Baseball.
Cassie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Grace Simon Mendel and Harry James Mendel. Cassie is survived by her children Raymond Locatto (Louise) and Gina Locatto (Brad), her seven grandchildren Rhiannon (Preston), Paige(Caleb), Phoebe, Jack, Katie, Griffin and Zoe, and her Great Grandchildren Rowan and Shay, her brothers and sisters Bucky (Sue), Pam (Kenny), Ricky (Gena), and Kevin (Teresa), and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home at 75212 LA-437 Covington, LA, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
