Daniel Joseph Billson

Daniel Joseph Billson passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the age of 78. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, Mary Burgett Billson; his children, Kenneth Michael Billson (wife, Heather Howat Billson) and Heather Nicolle Billson; his grandchildren: Ainsley Billson, Grant Billson, and Alivia Allen; his siblings: Mary Billson Triche (Larry), Roberta Billson Blappert (late, Errol), and Walter Billson (Karen); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Duhe Billson, and his brother, Stanley Billson (Margaret).

Daniel honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, enlisting shortly after graduating from Redemptorist High School. Following his military service, he pursued a career as a respiratory therapist and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Administration from the University of Phoenix. Daniel found great joy in watching his grandchildren compete in various sports and was an avid fan of golf-both as a player and spectator. He also took pride in the simple pleasures of life, especially cutting grass and raising chickens. In December 2022, Daniel was diagnosed with cancer, a battle he faced with remarkable strength and determination, continuing treatment well into 2025.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Friday, August 15, 2025. Gathering will begin at 12:30 pm with a Mass starting at 1:00 pm followed by military honors and burial. A reception will be held in the funeral home immediately after.
