Catherine Clarke of Dunmore died Friday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Buddy" Clarke who died in 1981. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edward T. "Neddo" and Catherine McHugh Walsh and was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and Marywood College. She and her husband Buddy were the owners of "Buddy Clarke's Bar" a landmark tavern located in the Hollywood section of Dunmore. Kaddy was a former teacher in the Scranton School District having taught Latin at West Scranton High School for most of her career. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore. She was a former volunteer at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Kaddy served as Honorary Parade Marshal of the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in 2021.

Surviving are a son Conal and wife Kristen Clarke of Scranton, two daughters Colleen Riley of Scranton and Megan and husband Chris Knight of Dunmore, a brother Edward and wife Ruthe Walsh of Scranton, two sisters Margie Walsh of Jessup and Jeannie Van Wie of Scranton. Also surviving are seven grandchildren Kristin, Kiernan, Eamonn, Brennah and Manon Riley, Neddo and Leo Clarke. She was preceded in death by two sisters Patricia Williams and Mary Lil Walsh and a niece Gina Van Wie.

A special thank you to Rosemary Murphy for her dedication and care for Kaddy during her final months. The family also thanks Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their amazing care and compassion for Kaddy and her family in her final days.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home 2025 Green Ridge Street, Dunmore with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut Street Dunmore. Interment Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. All those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to the church on Thursday morning.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D. Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507 or Friends of the Poor, 430 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA 18505.
