Catherine Alice Gilbert

Catherine Alice "Cathy" Gilbert, 65, of Rensselaer, IN passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She was born in Valparaiso, IN on May 26, 1960, the daughter of Claude Goff and Bernadine (Moss) Goff. She was a 1979 graduate of Kankakee Valley High School.

Cathy met the love of her life, Gery Ross Gilbert, in 1986. They were married at Gery's brother Joe's home in Warrenton, MO on September 26, 1997.

Cathy worked for several area businesses, including Sealy Spring and Donaldson's. She was affiliated with the Kniman United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing beadwork and going to markets, music and attending concerts, and watching NASCAR and football. An avid pet lover, she was a loving wife, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her sister, Claudia (George) Floyd; her brother, William (Defanda) Goff; her niece, Jennifer (Kirk) Minix; and her beloved dog, Sugar.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gery and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at Fair Oaks Cemetery on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor David Patterson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kniman United Methodist Church.
