It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecile Thibodeaux, 86, who peacefully left this world on October 18, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her devoted family. Born in Branch, Louisiana, on June 11, 1939, she was the daughter of Edward Smith and Belle Savoie.
Cecile was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived a long and meaningful life rooted in love, family, and tradition. She had a deep appreciation for French music, her favorite TV shows, and never passed up the chance for a good chat-she had a way of making everyone feel welcome. There was always a fresh pot of coffee brewing in her home for anyone who stopped by.
Known for her honesty and sharp wit, Cecile wasn't afraid to speak her mind, you always knew exactly where she stood. She loved going for rides and reminiscing, pointing out homes and sharing who lived where, painting stories with her memories. Sundays were a special tradition-Cecile and Leslie would cook for anyone who walked through the door, turning each weekend into a celebration of family, food, and togetherness.
Cecile leaves behind her loving daughter, Darlene Thibodeaux; her son, Michael Thibodeaux; and her treasured grandchildren, Mijalai Guillory, Ashley Thibodeaux, and Cody Thibodeaux. She will be dearly missed by her great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Kalen "KK", Karson, Piper, Kaden, Kylen, and Kenzie. She is also survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Dorothy "Yaya" Thibodeaux, and the father of her children, Leslie Thibodeaux. Cecile was deeply loved by many nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched with her warmth and unforgettable spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Randal (Peewee) Thibodeaux; her daughter-in-law, Vickie Thibodeaux; her sisters, Wilma (Sis), Mae Ruth (Toot), and Ida; and her brothers, Wilfred, Lawrence (TT), Ray (Tiny), and Kenneth (Smitty).
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Miguez Funeral Home, with visitation from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A rosary will be recited at 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Cecile will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to her caregivers-Dorothy "Yaya", Linda, and Mona-whose love and dedication made her days brighter. A heartfelt thank you also goes to the Heart of Hospice team for their compassion, kindness, and support to Cecile and the family during this time.
Cecile's presence, love, and unforgettable personality will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
